Bantry

Bantry, summer 2009

Last week was pretty intense for me with early hours at work and 2 photoshoots per day on the weekend. But I survived it, I just need to sort out all the photos that I took. Meanwhile I wanted to post something cheerful, like photos from the trip to Bantry that we had in summer of 2009. I’ve posted some of them already, and I still have few left.

That was an unbelievable summer, though I didn’t know it back then, it was my first summer in Ireland. It was warm, and we had like 2 months (!) of sunny days. Just to compare – in the last summer we had about 2 weeks.

Bantry is a coastal town and is famous not ony for being really beautiful, but for it’s fish as well. It’s just the right place to try traditional fish and chips or the seafood chowder in some cozy pub on one of the side streets.

Bantry, 2009

On a cold day like today I want to think about summer, and summer of 2009 was one the best so far. It was sunny and warm, we travelled a lot and explored Ireland. I still have some unpublished photos from that year, so I will get back to it for sure again.

Bantry (Beanntraí) is a coastal town about an hour and a half away from Cork. It’s a small town, but it could be a great starting point for exploring the south coast and Beara peninsula.

There is a small island just near the Bantry bay called Whiddy Island. I haven’t been there, but definitely want to. There is a ferry service connecting the island and the main land, so hopefully it will be as peaceful and great as the Bere Island near Castetownbere.

That was an awesome summer…. Bantry, 2009

Where did the summer go? Didn’t travel around that much this year. Wanna take a week off and explore Ireland like in 2009. This time I could try all the seafood chowder variations on my way!
