Cruiseferry “Julia” in Cork

This is something you don’t see every day. This is a cruiseferry Julia docked in Cork which makes all buildings around it look small and non-existent. Julia serviced the route from Cork to Swansea, and the reason it’s in Cork right now is a bit of a mystery. The cab driver told me, that it’s out of commission and won’t be on service anymore. But there is no such news I could find, so let’s wait and see )

Julia can carry 1,860 passengers and 440 cars plus 30 trailers and trucks which is really a lot. I hope they can make it up and running again, would be great to take this ferry to Britain some day…

Goddamn that thing’s big – reminds me of the time when I was in Stockholm in February – we had a great view of the sea from the hotel and each morning at breakfast we could look out at the islands in the water. Last morning, it was snowing really hard – I was looking forward to seeing everything in the snow… when I sat down by the window there was a HUGE ship parked up on the water blocking my view of everything :@

Hehe ) But still it’s something new. I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of huge ships in my life, so for me it’s very exotic. People say that this one is not going to be on service anymore though. It’s a pity, you can see that this sheep saw better days in the past.

I shouldn’t laugh – I have similar problems in Swedish… words like socker and sockar (sugar and socks). Nobody really wants to have 180g of socks in their cake :D

Yeah, I try to be careful with that, especially with something like meet/meat. “Do you want to meat me?” doesnt look nice on paper.

Oh but the hilarity… “I took part in a meating with 3 hot girls last night.” :D
