Christmas in Berlin, 2009

I took these pictures in Berlin in 2009, and only now I finally started to sort them out. This is what I like about this site – it gives me a motivation to dig through my stash and find more and more pictures to post, the ones that probably would have stayed in folders forever. Thank you all who read me and support me, if not for you I wouldn’t sort my pictures like ever…)

That Christmas was cold, really really cold. It was -17 in Berlin, but felt like -35. And people say that Russia is cold… To be fair it’s not like I had a lot of warm clothes with me, after some time in Ireland you can easily forget HOW cold the winter can be.

It was the first Christmas market I’ve seen, and it was unforgettable. I still think that Berlin central market is one of the best, if not the very best.

Goddamn, I went to the Christmas market in Paris and the place was rammed – could literally barely move for all the people pushing and shoving everywhere. If you wanted to stop to look at something in the stalls then the whole conga line of people behind you got held up so walking through the market was slow business. Fun, but I hate feeling trapped because of too many people and bad planning.

Hmm, maybe they have more than one market and the other ones are not that overcrowded?
